Monaco is governed since 1297 by the Grimaldi family dispute, which has been the subject of scandalous love affairs, tragic deaths and some speculation about a supposed “curse.” Legend has it that in the nineteenth century, Prince Rainier I, who lived inMonaco, Roma had a mistress when left. She swore that neither he nor any member of his family and descendants could find love and happiness through marriage. And so it has been until today.
